Rock On 2 was one of the most anticipated Hindi films of the year. The response to the trailer and then the success of its music created a lot of excitement among movie lovers, especially youth. I was one of them and did not miss the chance to watch it this weekend. Here is my review of Rock On 2 in five points.
The film is produced by Excel Entertainment which was created by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani in 1999. it stars Shraddha Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, Purab Kohli, Shashank Arora, and Prachi Desai in lead roles and Directed by Shujaat Saudagar.
Rock On 2 Movie Review
Music comes from the heart and can’t be nurtured in a competitive environment; this message is at the core of the storyline.
Adi (Farhan) has settled in Meghalaya and has got into tea plantation. He wants to expand his small labor of love to help the people of his village. He has hidden all his inner demons and set up this small progressive world here. One night, when this little world of Adi turns upside down and is burnt to ashes, he is stranded all alone with his village orphaned. In order to save his small world, he must set on a journey to fight all his demons and restore his dream. The only way he knows how to do it is by performing music.
Rock On 2’s Script is a winner and keeps you engaged throughout the film. The way characters evolve with time and situation looks natural and at the same time connects with audiences.
Farhan Akhtar once again proved that he is here to stay in acting business. After giving a memorable performance in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, he was expected to do well and in Rock On 2 he exceeded the expectations.
Shraddha Kapoor is lovable in her emotional character, and Arjun Rampal looks hot, though we loved him more in the prequel.
Purab Kohli is almost as if he stepped out of the first film and made sure that he keeps the essence of the character.
Shankar Ehsan Loy once again created magic, and it felt like I am walking out of an energetic and amazing live music concert. The rhythm of songs grows with you and you can pictures yourself in those situations. Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor sang all of their songs. While Farhan has already shown us what he can do but Shraddha Kapoor’s voice was definitely a pleasant surprise. Manzar Naya and Woh Jahaan was my favorite. We loved the way Woh Jahan changes into Rock On 2 Title Track during end credit. Literally, everyone stopped and listened the song till the very end.
Marc Koninckx’s cinematography is remarkable and deserves a special mention. Thumbs up to the person whoever decided to shoot the movie in Meghalaya. The moment you walk out of the theater you can listen to the people talking about only two things – Beautiful locations of Shillong and Music of the film.
Shujaat Saudagar had an amazing star cast, engaging story and rock on music to work with. The direction was probably the weakest point in the film but only when it is compared to lead star’s brilliant performance and Shankar Ehsan Loy’s super hit music. While most sequels are remakes of the original, credit goes to Shujaat Saudagar for showcasing a new chapter in the lives of the members of ‘Magik’, the Rock band that caught our fancy eight years ago
Watch Or Not?
If you loved Rock On then you will love Rock On 2 as well, period.
